My goal is to build a painting that has it’s own kind of balance through disparate shapes and color in an architectural space. Like an eco system, it depends on different elements that interact. If you remove an element, the loss of balance is obvious and tends to overshadow the whole.

As in the past, my paintings are gestural in nature, using movement of line, shape, and color to create energy. I am exploring the communication between these various elements as though each painting were one big operatic argument.

Having lived in the middle of nature for over forty years, between the Green Mountains, the woods, my garden and tracking the sun and the weather, the environment and it’s changing conditions are always in my subconscious as I paint.
